Ahoy shipmates!
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game throws you right into the heart of the action, introducing you to a colourful cast including Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner in LEGO form.
The charming LEGO characters are by no means static figures; each one has cheeky facial expressions and delightful physical movements that make them a pleasure to watch. Even Captain Jack walks with the hilarious swagger that he possesses in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and pirate Ragetti can take out his glass eye for fun. In combat, attacking a player with your sword won't draw any blood, but will dismantle your opponent into separate pieces, sending LEGO body parts flying everywhere in hilarious battle scenes.
Locations and settings from the films look fabulous in LEGO form, from the extravagant pirate ships with their cannons and crew, to the sun-kissed desert islands, complete with palm trees and exotic birds.
The game is divided into four adventures, one focussing on each of the films. Once you complete The Curse of the Black Pearl you can move on to any of the other three quests, which are all located in the game's hub - The Port. There are treasures to be found and puzzles to solve here, too - just watch out for the crocodiles.
Gameplay
A pirate's life
All aboard! Packed with swashbuckling adventures based on the four Pirates of the Caribbean films, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game has set sail on PlayStation 3,
Your adventure begins as blacksmith apprentice Will Turner in Port Royal. From the outset, you must utilise the abilities of the different characters to solve puzzles and complete challenges by switching between them. Will's boss Mr Brown fixes things with his hammer, while female characters jump higher to reach ledges and ropes.
Captain Jack Sparrow is the star of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. Use his trusty compass to find hidden objects, just select the item you want to look for and follow the trail - as in all good pirate stories, X marks the spot. There are tons of treasures stashed throughout the game that unlock new areas and help you solve puzzles.
There is so much treasure, in fact, that you won't be able to collect it all in the extensive Story Mode. Once a stage is complete, go back to it in Free Play mode and take all of the characters you have unlocked with you. You can then use their abilities to enter buildings and solve challenges that you couldn't previously.
Multiplayer
Captain your crew
Teamwork is essential in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. In the single player mode you can switch between characters to use each of their unique abilities.
If you don't fancy taking on a crew of deadly buccaneers on your own, grab a shipmate and take on the pirates together. Two players can sail the high seas in the local co-operative multiplayer mode. At any point, a second player can join the game and help you on your mission. Together, you can solve puzzles, find treasure and beat the evil pirates.
There are over 70 characters to play as, including Captain Barbosa, Davy Jones and Anamaria. Collect them on your journey or head to The Port and buy new characters with the loot you find.
